MATCH REPORTS

Every week, scores from each game an ENC team has played in will put up here on the website. Scores from the CENA League, National League and Scottish Cup will be shown.

4/10/09

Oceans 31  vs  17  Uni 5

A good start for Oceans, getting their season off to a good win! There was a bit of confusion with the scores, but it was all sorted out. Best and Fairest went to Katherine at GA, well done Katherine! They only played with 7 players so an extra effort was put in by all. Well done, guys!

11/10/09

Onyx  65  vs  17  Uni 2

Scarlets  33  vs  23  Royals

Oceans  35  vs  35  Kirkaldy

Good results for each team - Onyx got their season off to a flyer with a comfortable win over Uni 2 - it gave them a chance to try different combinations, and they had added pressure with Katie filming the match! Scarlets and Royals had a great match, with Royals pushing the seconds hard and doing themselves proud. Scarlets held their nerve though, so well done! Oceans had an agonising draw against Kirkaldy, having been on top most of the match, but a good result nonetheless against a good side. Well done all!

18/10/09

National League Match

Onyx  80  vs  23  Hazlehead

Onyx got their Kukri National League campaign off to a flyer with an emphatic win over Aberdeen's Hazlehead. Despite depleted numbers and re-inforcements in the shooting circle with Kate Mac, they still eased to a comfortable victory. Hopefully an indication of things to come, (and everything being on time!). Players of the match were Kate Macmillan and Ali Tod.

CENA

Onyx  69  vs  27  Holyrood Tartans

Scarlets  55  vs  28  Phoenix

Royals  28  vs  32  Caledonian Hawks

Good show from every team - Onyx had a good win against Tartans, stopping them getting half-points despite already having played a game that morning! Scarlets had a concvincing win against Phoenix, and Royals gave a good account of themselves against Caley, just getting edged out in the end. Well done all.

25/10/09

Oceans  0  vs  10  Holyrood Celts

Some fishy goings-on at CENA mean a 10-0 loss for Oceans - mix-ups with team sheets etc. get in the way of what the league is all about - netball! I'm sure Oceans gave Celts a better game than that. We learn these lessons the hard way, folks!

1/11/09

Onyx  74  vs  43  Holyrood Thistles

Scarlets  45  vs  26  Holyrood Tartans

Royals  36  vs  31  Phoenix

Oceans  37  vs  32  Uni 4

A great week for everyone, with every team chalking up a win. Onyx and Scarlets comfortably got past the other big Edinburgh club's top two teams, Royals sneaked a great victory against an ever-experienced Phoenix side, and Oceans got a great result against Uni 4. Well done, everybody!

8/11/09

Onyx  84  vs  17  Royals

Scarlets  54  vs  27  Uni 2

In the all-ENC clash, Onyx showed just why they are the top team at the club, with a big win over Royals. It was all in good spirit though, and Royals played nicely, despite the scoreline. Scarlets eased past Uni 2, just one away from stopping the half-points, but a good result nonetheless. Good work, everyone!

22/11/09

National League Match

Onyx  71  vs  39  Newman NC

In the National League Onyx once again proved that they are the ones to beat, with a strong show against Lanarkshire's Newman. Despite an injury-ridden squad, the Onyx girls were able to find their form (apart from a dodgey third quarter!). There were no Players of the Match for some reason, but Mo Fraser had a cracker in the shooting circle. Well done, ladies!

CENA

Onyx  77  vs  37  Scarlets

Royals  17  vs  40  Uni 2

Oceans  28  vs  37  Holyrood Heathers

Onyx continued their good form of the day, with an accomplished performance against their club-mates. Scarlets put up a great fight, and were tantalisingly close to half points! Jackie Wallace and Jenny Barrass got Players of the Match, and deservedly so. Royals had it tough against Uni, again just missing out on those half points. Oceans however pushed Heathers close, and got a point for their efforts. Well done all!

29/11/09

Onyx  72  vs  32  Phoenix

Scarlets  48  vs  25  Caledonian Hawks

Royals  39  vs  53  Holyrood Thistles

Despite a shakey start, Onyx managed to gather themselves and motor to an in the end comfortable win over Phoenix. Scarlets managed to comprehensively overcome their rivals from last year, Caley, with a solid result. Royals had a magnificent game against Thistles, pushing them all the way, but just losing a bit of steam in the last quarter. Had them going though, ladies! Well done to everybody.

6/12/09

Oceans  35  vs  39  Uni 3

Oceans came despairingly close to beating Uni 3, just four goals away. Hopefully in the second half of the season that result can be over-turned! Fairest players were Jen Hardie from Oceans and our U13s coach Becca got it for Uni 3 - well done ladies!

9/12/09

Onyx  55  vs  35  Caley Hawks

A re-arranged match meant a mid-week outing for the Onyx ladies. Maybe it was down to some good work from Caley, maybe it was the fact everyone had been at work all day, maybe it was the prospect of a party at Carlene's, but the top side were a little under fire. Still, the sign of champions is the ability to win ugly, and that's what they did, and came away with a tricky victory.

13/12/09

National League Match

Onyx  70  vs  42  East Kilbride

In the Kukri League, Onyx overcame a strong young EK side, full of U21 internationals. It was a pretty close match up untill an impromptu fire-alarm went off, and it proved to be the kick up the backside Onyx needed!! The win means Onyx remain undefeated for the first half of the 2009/2010 season!

CENA

Scarlets  56  vs  61  Holyrood Thistles

Royals  39  vs  40  Holyrood Tartans

Two agonising defeats for ENC this week - Scarlets resumed their rivalry with Thistles in the seemingly eternal struggle for bragging rights. This time Thistles drew first blood with a tight win. I'm sure the next round will be different! Royals came even closer, losing by the smallest margine possible. A horrible way to lose, but look on the bright side, you got half points!

It's a testament to the level of netball at the club that our second and third sides can push the other big Edinburgh club's first and second sides so close.

Well done to all teams so far this season, a great first half of the season for the club!
